What a find

Check out the lace! While out with Mr GREAT yesterday we stopped and had a browse through some antique shops - lots of very nice stuff in those.

In the last one we went to which has kind of retro/antique and perhaps not as flashy as the other two we visited I found this lace sitting on top of an old singer sewing machine (yes I would have liked to bring that home but alsa no space for extra furniture and no $$$$).

The lace was unpriced so I enquired as to the cost and the lady said $5. Well what a bargain - has the tag still on it that says made in Austria and its 10 yards long!!!! I will have to find something special to do with it.

Weekend Progress

I had a 4 day weekend this one just gone and let me tell you that they dont happen very often around here! Anyway after doing some running around on Thursday I spent Friday hobbling around with a pulled leg muscle (good excuse to sew!) So I hobbled between the sewing machine, the cutting mat and the ironing board and this is what I managed to put together...........

The other weekend project was this................

........ a new bed. We are going to ditch the water bed so we can both get a good night's sleep! New quilt for this one I think - but perhaps not straight away!

A lot but nothing to show..............

Its been one of those weekends around here! A little bit of this a lot of that (mainly housework - yuck!) and nothing really to show.

I started to pieced together some of the bits for my big project - all went well. Stitched the top of my Vintage Teddies together (need to get some batting before I can finish it..) Cut the squares for a shaggy quilt that Becca wanted and stitched those. Made of big mess of my creative space and walked away and left it! Made a cake. Went to help purchase timber for the next stage of the reno - getting closer to finishing now (but still a lot to go).

Went to niece's birthday party - I think she was fairly impressed with her bag. Then got in a decent night's sleep for the couple of big days ahead work wise.

So no pics but a little bit of progress. Hope everyone has a good week!

Not a lazy Sunday Afternoon

Well not around here! Up early this morning to take Cam to Clean Up Australia Day then home and achieved the desired cutting (see previous post). A trip to the dump (did my bit to clean up my little piece of Australia - do you think that counts?). Home from dump and had lunch and then decided to make my niece a bag for her birthday which is next weekend. Here it is completed:
Overall I have had a very productive weekend (and 3 blog posts as well). Back to work tomorrow but Im right into this sewing thing at the moment.

A productive day

On this rainy day here in Brisbane I was very productive inside the house! Managed a couple of loads of laundry; baked a cake; went on a few errands and then did some sewing after lunch!

Worked on a swap project for a bit.......................

Then decided to piece together Block 1 of our FIS - Block of the month. Took a little time choosing the fabric and then got stuck into it- its a 6 inch block so a little (a lot) smaller than I have ever pieced before. Its finished and Im impressed with myself (not with the ability to take a decent photo of a night though).

I was on such a roll that I thought that I might as well make a start on the second block - at least get the cutting done - well that start turned into a whole complete block.......................

Now I just have to wait a few more weeks for Block 3...................
